BFC, PANGKALPINANG — The commemoration of the 2026 National Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Month at PT TIMAH Tbk has been taking place vibrantly across the company’s operational areas.
This week, a variety of activities were organized as a reflection of the commitment of management and employees to strengthen the OSH culture, including the Timah Fire & Rescue Challenge and the Emergency Response Competition held at the Kundur Division Area on January 27–28, 2026.
The Timah Fire & Rescue Challenge was officially opened by the Deputy President Director of PT TIMAH Tbk, Harry Budi Sidharta, and attended by the Division Head of HSE and Sustainability of PT TIMAH Tbk, Rudy Nursalam, along with employees at the company’s Head Office area.
The two-day competition, which involved nine teams from various operational areas, was met with great enthusiasm by participants. Various emergency simulations were prepared, ranging from navigating narrow corridors and steep inclines to lifting heavy loads and conducting victim rescue simulations that required teamwork and physical endurance.
Harry Budi Sidharta stated that the Timah Fire & Rescue Challenge is part of the company’s effort to instill a culture of occupational safety and health in order to create a safe and comfortable work environment.
“This activity is one of our efforts to cultivate the understanding that safety is everyone’s responsibility. Not only in the workplace, but also as a form of preparedness should the people of Bangka Belitung require emergency assistance. OSH must become a shared culture for all of us,” he said.
He also reminded all participants to prioritize safety and maintain team cohesion throughout the competition so that OSH values can be internalized in daily work activities.
In addition to the Fire & Rescue Challenge, the spirit of the 2026 National OSH Month was also evident in the Kundur Division Area through the Emergency Response Competition held at the PT TIMAH Kundur Area ceremonial field on the same day. The activity was attended by representatives from various work units as well as Timah partner dredging units.
This preparedness competition aims to encourage participants to become more responsive and skilled in handling various potential risks.
The emergency response competition is held annually as part of the National OSH Month commemoration and serves as a follow-up to instructions from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM).
The competition categories included 5R (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain), Safety Contact, Firefighting, and Basic Life Support (BLS).
Beyond the competitions, the 2026 National OSH Month series at PT TIMAH Tbk also includes opening ceremonies across operational areas, which will conclude with a grand assembly in the Kundur Area as a symbol of the shared commitment of management and employees to strengthening the OSH culture.
In addition, the company is conducting OSH campaigns and educational initiatives through the installation of banners, educational media, thematic safety talks, socialization of standard personal protective equipment (PPE) usage, housekeeping excellence programs, and the distribution of digital OSH content.
PT TIMAH Tbk is also organizing certification training as well as 14 other competitions and competitive activities, such as Best PJO, Safety Contact Video, Quiz Challenges, Safety Innovation, and nominations for the best implementation of the Mining Safety Management System (SMKP).
Through the series of activities for the 2026 National OSH Month, PT TIMAH Tbk remains committed to continuously fostering a strong culture of occupational safety and health. (*)
